On the first of October the project Markthal has opened it’s doors in Rotterdam. The building contractor invited IBS to be present at the opening.<\/p>\n

The Markthal in Rotterdam is the first indoor market in the Netherlands. The building is a design from the Rotterdam architectural firm MVRDV.\u00a0 The Markthal combines parking, retail and living.<\/p>\n

In the past, IBS has executed \u00a0several activities for this project. Amongst others the testing of the impact load resistance of three floor separations in accordance with paragraph 6.4 from NEN-EN-1991-1-1. This was tested \u00a0by using a glass bead bag swing test.<\/p>\n

The main goal of the glass bead bag swing is to test the impact load resistance of a floor- or roof separation. A glass beads bag symbolizes the impact of a falling person on or against a construction. The structure of the construction may not change by the impact. In case of a falling person, the person may not fall through the construction.<\/p>\n
